Wellcraft 180 Fisherman

Don’t let the name fool you this little boat is sporty, stylish, fast and maneuverable. In fact it looks more like a classic speed boat than a fishing craft.

Yet like all Wellcraft products it’s packed with extra features that make it a perfect fishing boat. A 24 gallon lighted bait well, gunwale mounted rod holders and a 76 quart cooler make this the perfect little boat for a fishing trip. A spacious casting platform makes it a great boat for anglers.

A 49 gallon fuel tank and an engine choice that gives owners up to 150 horsepower make this a great coastal fishing boat. At 18 feet in length it’s perfect for going up those canals, rivers and inlets where the fish live. Yet it’s fast enough to get you home in a hurry or pull a water skier.

Unlike most Wellcraft boats the engine choice for the 180 Fisherman is quite limited. Only three motors are offered for this boat, an Evinrude 115 E-tec, a Yamaha F 115 Four Stroke and a Yamaha 150 Four Stroke. The 180 Fisherman is set up for Yamaha but can be easily converted to use Evinrude motors.

One great feature with the 180 Fisherman is the safety interlock ignition which prevents theft and joyriding. Some of the engines also feature an aluminum propeller.

A really good feature on the 180 Fisherman is the instrumentation package. A tachometer, fuel, trim, and speedometer gauges come standard with the boat. Electronic systems check is available for some of the engines.

As with all Wellcraft boats a lot of great options are available for the 180 Fisherman. As one would expect from Wellcraft most of the options are geared toward the fisherman. Some of the optional features include a raw water wash down, hydraulic steering, a leaning post seat with a 72 quart cooler built in, and T-Top cover. The T-Top cover features four additional rod holders.

Like other Wellcraft models the 180 Fisherman is offered in three colors; Fighting Lady Yellow, Midnight Blue and Hunter Green. It also comes in basic white for those who prefer the classics.

For a basic stripped down fishing boat or Speedster the 180 Fisherman is a pretty good craft. The number of options offered seems very limited especially when compared to other Wellcraft boats. Those who want more options would be well advised to look into one of the better Wellcraft Fisherman models.
