Anchor Alert By Deep Blue Marine

Saturday, June 19, 2010 0:46

Anchor Alert is a resourceful mechanism that is used to sound when the anchor is dragging while the vessel is supposed to be anchored and standing still, but the anchor is moved or moving while the boat is static.

Deep Blue marine describes the anchor alert as a revolutionary new electronic Anchor Monitoring System for motor cruisers and yachts alike. The alarm system is of a wireless nature and it consists of a transponder connected directly to the anchor, along with a boat based transducer and alarm panel.

The ingenious independent operation of the alarm system from the movement of the boat limits the possibility of repetitive and recurring false alarms that can often happen due to the natural movement of the boat on the water due to tides and altering water patterns.

The alarm only sounds when the anchor is indisputably moved that will have an influence on the secure anchor of the vessel.

The anchor unit has been designed with ease of use and simplicity in mind, in order to run smoothly without any problems over any kind of commonly used bow rollers.

The different features of the anchor alarm as listed in the Deep Blue Marine website are:

  • Transponder system switches automatically on when immersed in water.
  • The alarm sensitivity is user adjustable. This feature again makes the alarms as genuine as possible.
  • The operating range is 200m (600 feet).
  • The practical operating depth is 65 meter (200 feet).
  • Supplied with a ‘thru hull’ transducer adaptor.
  • The power supply of the boat unit is 12-32 Vdc; power supply of the anchor unit is 4 X AA cell alkaline batteries. (Here, some level of confusion exists about which one of the two is to be the transducer and which one is the transponder, though. The anchor unit batteries can sustain for an average period of time of two months).
  • The battery condition can also be deciphered from the unit display panel, same as other battery operated electric gadgets.
  • The range of operating temperature of the alarm is -10 degree centigrade to 50 degree centigrade.

The different features and more detailed information regarding the transponder-transducer coverage can be viewed when you visit http://www.deepbluemarine.ch/english/marine/anchor_alert.html

The alarm unit includes an accelerometer, similar to those used in trigger air bags and wireless transponders.
