2006 Regal 2860 Window Express w/Twin Volvo 4.3L OSi- XDP
This all-but-new 2006 Regal 2860 Window Express is brand new to the market. She is powered by a pair of Volvo-Penta 225hp 4.3 GXLi engines mated to the fantastic Duo-Prop sterndrives. Features include air conditioning, generator, Raymarine electronics and full canvas package. The cabin is well laid out with a large U-shape dinette in the bow, which will convert to a berth; a great mid-cabin berth under the helm deck; an enclosed head is amid-ship to port and a galley unit across on starboard. This vessel is stored in a covers dry stack facility, has just been fully detailed and is in excellent condition.
Model History
Regal Boats has a long history of building quality mid-range express cruisers and runabouts dating back to the late 1960's. They are a privately held company based in Orlando, Florida. The 2860 Window Express was introduced in 2006 as a replacement for the outgoing 2860 Commodore model. The new Window Express model incorporates a highly raked forward cabin window, reminiscent of some classic Bertram and Chris Craft models from the late 60's and 70's. The look is thoroughly modern with a retro touch and is likely to age very well. Regal has phased out the signature "stepped hull" design found on the previous model and introduced a conventional hull design they call the Ocean Trac. This design is a modified-Vee configuration with a single running strake and reserved chines with 18 degrees of deadrise at the stern. This type of design should produce a quick, smooth and efficient ride with minimal spray
Construction
Regal boats are of modern conventional construction, built with modified polyester resins, E-glass fiberglass cloth & mat and composite coring materials. AME vinylester resin is used in the hull layup as a barrier coat to help prevent blistering. The hull is a solid fiberglass laminate layup below the waterline with cored hull sides above the waterline. The hull is reinforced with a fully bonded fiberglass stringer system . The deck is also a fiberglass laminate with coring used to stiffen the fore deck and cockpit sole. The hull to deck joint is a "shoe box" style that is chemically and mechanically fastened together. The exterior finish is in a premium grade gel coat.
Vessel Walk Thru
Access to the cockpit is via a large swim platform and stainless steel transom gate on starboard. The aft cockpit area has a folding bench seat and removable table. The forward end of the cockpit has an L-shaped settee on port with the helm opposite on starboard. Just aft of the helm seat is the wet bar. Moving forward, the cabin is accessed thru a sliding acrylic door and down three steps. The cabin is arranged with a convertible U-shaped dinette in the bow, an enclosed head aft to port, an galley unit aft to starboard and a mid-cabin berth under the helm deck area. Back on deck, there are molded-in steps beside the helm which lead to the walk-thru windshield and out onto the bow. There is a recessed well area around the windlass; this flat section of deck makes anchoring or handling dock lines more secure.
Salon
The large forward windows give the cabin area is bright and open feeling. Regals use of off-white vinyl, beige carpet and cherry wood finished cabinetry are the perfect combination of suffocation and practicality. Whether entertaining friends or weekending with the family, the interior of 2860 is the ideal.
