BOAT DESCRIPTION

1994 Dettling

Description

It's not often that unique design & function create an entirely new classification in the yachting industry however the Dettling line of fast long-range express cruiser yachts appear to have accomplished that feat. Combining classic style modern technology and unmatched attention to detail the 48 Dettling offers fast dry quiet economical performance long-range and luxurious accommodations. In addition she was designed to be easily operated by two people or a cruising couple. "PERFECTLY SUE-TED" was updated with a totally new British West Indies influenced interior decor and additional navigation & entertainment electronics including a 42" plasma screen TV in the salon.
Walk Through

Step aboard "PERFECTLY SUE-TED" through your choice of five boarding gates in the flawlessly welded stainless steel railing which runs the entire perimeter of the yacht. Two gates are forward two are at the pilothouse and one leads from the aft deck to the swim platform. Whichever one you choose there will be two handrails available for balance. There are unusually wide (15 inch) non-skid walk-around side decks. The generous teak aft deck is fully protected by an extended hardtop. There are 3 large sectional hatches in the aft deck which can be easily removed providing complete access to the engines for major work. In the bow a 66-lb. Bruce anchor nests against specially designed blocks its chain washed by a high volume water stream fed by 2 seawater spigots. Spotlights atop the deckhouse and at the fore peak allow one to work here safely at night. Two hatches open to reveal large stowage bins above the chain locker for dock lines swabs and buckets. Entry to the pilothouse with teak parquet sole is forward to port on the aft deck through a weather-tight door. Large opening side and aft windows and two overhead hatches in the pilothouse combine with a forced outside air plenum beneath the windshields to create an ingenious ventilation system it provides plenty of outside air while preventing windshield fogging. To starboard the elevated helm with a 6'6" long 4-person helmseat offers unobstructed 360-degree visibility. It can be opened or closed heated or air conditioned. Since the engines and all other machinery are located under the aft deck the low noise level in the pilothouse permits normal quiet conversation while cruising. For totally unimpaired visibility the large centerline hatch slides back allowing the helmsman and companion to step up on the chart table next to the helm and stand up through this padded opening with head and shoulders above the pilothouse roof. Directly forward of the hatch is a locker that contains a remote helm station with engine controls and remote autopilot control head with steering. From the portside forward of the pilothouse a graceful curving stairway descends four steps into the salon. A large L-shaped settee to starboard is complemented by bookcases a convertible hi-lo cocktail/dining table and between two rattan occasional chairs to port and an entertainment center housing the AV component. On either side of the entertainment center are concealed desks with drop-down work surfaces. Large deckhouse windows with custom teak blinds provide plenty of natural light and are proportioned to permit full outside views when seated (unlike the claustrophobic feeling in most other express cruisers). In addition there are 4 overhead stainless hatches in the salon which provide additional light and ventilation. The interior of "PERFECTLY SUE-TED" is a combination of exquisitely crafted teak joinery and matchless finish. The joinery is first sealed and then receives 5 coats of hand-rubbed Epiphanes exterior grade gloss varnish for maximum durability. The final coat is Epiphanes hand-rubbed satin for a rich soft patina. The rich teak joinery is complemented by a unique plush/loop patterned carpet and off-white removable headliner sections that are separated by teak battens. All of the yachts interior bulkheads countertops and even shelf dividers are structural being fiberglassed to the hull before finishing to improve rigidity.Forward and down just 12 inches is the open galley separated from the salon by a teak pass-over serving counter. This allows the chef to commune with guests and also enjoy the view through big windows. Fourteen feet of counter space plus extensive drawers cupboards and bins of all sizes provide a galley for serious cooking. The large commercial quality top loading (with lower access doors to bottom area) custom cold-plate refrigerator and freezer are located to starboard. These units require just one 40 minute cycle per day from the high capacity sea water cooled compre
